@Palm-Sounds: I think 7" is the sweet spot right now, given the size of the knobs. I've got a 7" overclocked Nook Color which is a joy to use with Caustic. Marc's 7" Galaxy is basically the same thing, without the hassle of modifying a Nook.
I've seen it run on 10" tablets and it's almost too big. I think I might try and make a portrait view for those so you can rotate and see more machines at once.
Greetings, just purchased the full version. This is the first in-app purchase for me and the question is: If I reformat/upgrade my phone, will the app stay registered? Best regards, Mauro
@Mauro: Yes, absolutely. If for some reason it doesn't recognize your unlock status right after you re-install it, clear the "app data" for Caustic and re-start it to force a purchase status sync.
Question: I installed the app on HTC Desire, and after a while both Bass synth keyboards went mute. Pressing a key still registers, recording works, playback is fine too (with sound), but when pressing the Bass synths' keys live there's no sound. All other instrument keyboards work fine though. Restart/shutdwon/new song did not help. Any ideas?
@Al: The bassline keyboards don't play live, they're for setting up your patterns. Have a look at the overview video again, you'll see how they're used...
Aaagh, stupid me! Of course, so the Bass synths are not supposed to make any live sound. I was mistaken, my bad. Maybe it would be nice to add that feature - for me as a keyboard player it's weird to not hear the pitch of a note you just entered, until it's played back by the looping pattern.
But really an amazing app, I'm really starting to adore it. Great work! Will test some more, then I'll buy the full version.
I just bought the full version, you are well worth it given how amazing this thing is.
However, I'm not sure how much I will be able to use it without midi import for the sequencer. I'm just not capable of composing directly inside there, I need to import a melody to play with. Perhaps this is something you could consider adding in the future.
(It wouldn't even need to map instruments or anything fancy, just next to copy+paste on the sequencer add a 'load' and 'save' that reads/writes the bare notes from/to a midi file.)
Anyway, thanks for your work with this. It is really cool.
Congrats on a wonderful app. Been messing with the demo version for a little while and i feel there is maybe just one little thing missing! A sampler! Or at least the ability to import a wav, edit\trim it, reverse it etc and maybe for the resultant sample to be mapped to a key.
Obviously not a full blown HALion is needed! but i hope you get the picture :-) Would provide the thing missing from so many audio creation apps.
Yeah a simple sampler that is good in building/matching loops to tempo and all so you can import some guitar riff using the build-in mic and loop it as needed on-the-fly. :)
What tablets would you recommend for use with caustic?
